Cervical Smear 

The smear test is a simple and essentially painless procedure, which is important in the early detection of conditions which could, if left untreated, develop into cancer. Treatments for most conditions are usually straightforward and almost always effective. We operate a computerised call and recall system, which ensures that all eligible women will be offered a test at appropriate intervals. Appointments can be made with the nurse or the doctor.

Family Planning

We can provide the oral contraceptive pill, condoms and the 3-monthly depo-provera injection.  We are also able to fit/remove the contraceptive coil and implant - a service which up until recently was not available in surgery.  

Flu Clinic

We offer flu vaccinations to patients aged 65 and over as well as to patients aged under 65 and in an at risk group as determined by Dept of Health guidelines each year. A flu vaccine is particularly recommended for elderly patients, patients with heart, lung or kidney disease and diabetes.  We hold clinics in October/November each year. Dates and venues are publicised as soon as information is available. If you are eligible for a vaccine please attend one of the clinics. Patients who receive vaccinations at home should contact the surgery to arrange for a nurse to visit.

Minor Surgery

The doctors undertake some minor operations to help save long waits for hospital treatment. Procedures include cryotherapy, removal of warts and verrucae, removal of toe nails, excisions and cautery, joint injections, and hormone implants. These procedures are carried out in the Treatment Suite at the surgery in Hornsea. This is an extra service offered by the doctors and you may have a few weeks’ wait for an appointment.

Travel Vaccinations and Advice

Travel vaccinations and advice are available from our practice nurses. You will need to complete a travel form before making an appointment with the nurse.  Please make an appointment well in advance, preferably at least eight weeks before you travel. We can advise on and prescribe anti-malarial medicines.

Other Services

We also provide maternity services, child health surveillance and immunisation, anti-coagulation monitoring, near patient testing, Zoladex, glucose tolerance testing, ECG monitoring, and insulin conversion.
