We have a broad portfolio but at the moment we are focused mainly on vaccine and immunity research and studies looking at ways to improve the mental health of younger people.

PETRUSHKA Mental Health Study

Antidepressants are one of the available treatments for depression. There are many antidepressants that are licensed in the UK and any of them can be prescribed to you by your doctor. Matching antidepressant treatment to specific patients, however, is too often a matter of trial and error, with many factors influencing whether a treatment is suited to an individual. These factors may include clinical and demographic characteristics, how a person has responded to other treatments in the past, how severe their condition is and whether they have any other conditions they are being treated for.

By using routinely collected NHS data and clinical trial data, we have developed a tool (called PETRUSHKA tool) to personalise treatment for people with depression and predict which antidepressant works best for each individual, based on their characteristics (for instance, age, sex assigned at birth, severity of symptoms) and their preferences about side effects. In this study, we will test the PETRUSHKA tool in adults with depression who are seen by their General Practitioner (GP) and compare this personalised approach with usual care in the NHS (i.e., standard care).

Raptor Swab Study

We are doing a research study to compare how accurate different tests are at detecting past or current coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. We will be comparing the results of new rapid tests with standard laboratory tests for COVID-19.

If this study identifies a good rapid test for COVID-19 it might be useful in the future for helping doctors and nurses give instant advice about self-isolation
which might help block the spread of the virus, or guide treatment which might help people to feel better more quickly.

HIS-UK Condom Study

DENI-06 Eczema Study

The purpose of this study is to confirm the performance and safety of Adex Gel when used by younger patients with moderate atopic eczema, who are not using oral or topical corticosteroids or immunomodulators as part of the management of their eczema. The study will use well-defined and validated assessment methods i.e. the investigator assessed severity of atopic dermatitis score (SCORAD) assessed and photographed on Day 1, Day 14 and Day 28, and participant completed child quality of life questionnaires for children (Child Dermatology Life Quality Index – CDLQI) completed on Day 1 and Day 28 of the study.

Adex Gel, which is an already marketed Emollient, is an unusual emollient because it also contains a medicinal ingredient (nicotinamide, a topical vitamin B3 preparation) which also has anti-inflammatory action. Nicotinamide is not a steroid and can be used anywhere on the body and for long periods of time. The product can be useful for patients with mild to moderate eczema, for use long term or mainly during flares, where it can help to reduce the use of steroids.
