Carnon Downs Village Hall

Carnon Downs Village Hall has had extensive rebuilding and refurbishment work carried out thanks to a substantial grant from the Big Lottery.

There is a brand New Hall, a refurbished Main Hall and a new Meeting Room providing space for a wide variety of events. There is a new level entrance giving improved access to those with disabilities along with new toilets and a new shared kitchen.

CDVH is managed by a Volunteer Committee of Trustees made up of Local Residents and Representatives of Groups that regularly use the hall and is a community organisation run for the benefit of local residents.

These include Needlecraft, Photography, Old Cornwall Society, Women's Institute, Film Club, Dance Classes, Fitness and Yoga Classes, Music, Baby Sensory, Gardening and Flower Arranging plus Bridge and Whist.

Feock Parish Council has recently published it's first newsletter 'Connect' which all residents should have received through their letterboxes. Go to their website for more information:

The Parish Council is looking to facilitate the bringing together of people and offering new opportunities for people to want to get out and about. Not only is this good for our wellbeing but there are lots of things going on and many interesting things to see on our doorstep.

We have recently introduced self guided footpath trails leaflets (available from Parish Office or downloadable online) The Devoran tramway will take you from Point Quay to Devoran Quay from which you will see many tantalising views of the water. At this time of year, and at the right state of the tide, you will see amazing numbers of curlew, godwit and redshank. In Feock village there is the Trelissick estate with its carriage way from the Lodge to the House. This winter the churchyards have been attractive to birdwatchers too with regular sightings of bullfinch, chaffinch, goldfinch and the occasional goldcrest and firecrest.

There are lunch clubs at Carnon Downs, Feock and most recently Devoran offering an opportunity for convivial meeting with friends and neighbours. The Feock Transport Scheme can be used to bring residents who do not have transport to these lunches so people do not need to feel excluded by lack of a car.

The Parish Council has now set up a Wellbeing Working Group which is looking at new ways of improving the wellbeing of local people. The aim is to provide opportunities for connecting people and to assess ways of improving facilities in the Parish which will enhance community.

As part of the project the Parish Council has helped to set up a new 'pop up cafe' for monthly lunches in Devoran Village Hall which are held on the first Wednesday of the month, more details can be found below. Thank you to The Old Quay Inn who are kindly donating fresh bread rolls for each pop up cafe to go with the home made soup made by our volunteers.
