PHARMACY FIRST: MINOR AILMENT SCHEME
DID YOU KNOW?
You can get medication from the pharmacy using your "Pharmacy First" Minor Ailment Scheme Pass Book. You can be treated at the pharmacy for the following conditions rather than seeing the GP:
- Allergies, Hay Fever, Bites & Stings
- Athletes Foot
- Colds & Flu
- Cold Sores (oral)
- Conjunctivitis
- Constipation
- Cystitis
- Diarrhoea
- Dry Cough
- Productive Cough
- Eczema & Dry Skin
- Fever
- Head Lice
- Indigestion/Heartburn/Tummy Upset
- Nappy Rash
- Nasal Congestion
- Pain Relief
- Sore Throat
- Teeting Pain/Mouth Ulcers
- Threadworms
- Vaginal Thrush
- Warts & Verrucae
CONDITIONS OF USE
WHAT IS THE SCHEME?
This pass book allows you to access certain medicines through any participating Community Pharmacy (Chemist) for the Minor Ailments listed. You are encouraged to use this service through your usual Pharmacy wherever possible. If you do not pay for prescriptions you will not have to pay for any medicines supplied through the scheme.
You must present this pass book to obtain any supply.
WHO CAN USE THE SCHEME?
Anybody registered with a participating GP practice may take part in the scheme. Children under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by their parent/guardian.
CAN I DEMAND THE MEDICINES I WANT?
No. The pharmacist will make a decision whether there is a need for any medication. The pharmacist may decide that you should see your doctor or give advice without supplying medicines.
IMPORTANT
- If your symptoms persist you should seek further advice from your GP practice. Please remember to take your passbook with you.
- If you lose your passbook please inform your GP practice.
- Misuse of this scheme will ressult in you no longer being able to use this scheme.
When your passbook is full, take it to your GP Practice and it will be replaced with a new one.
