Urgent Dental Treatment

ACCESS SCHEME FOR URGENT DENTAL TREATMENT

On 1st October 2009 a new Dental Access Scheme was introduced throughout Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion to improve access to NHS dental services for patients in need of urgent treatment who do not have a regular dentist.

Sessions have been commissioned from several dental practices in the counties to provide appointments into which the Local Health Board can book patients.

Patients can access the service by contacting NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.  Patients will be triaged by NHS Direct and if deemed in need of urgent treatment, given an unique reference number and referred to the Dental Services Clerk at the Local Health Board.

The Dental Services Clerk will advise the patient of the location and time of appointments that are available.
