NHS patients, staff and visitors must continue to wear face coverings and follow social distancing measures in healthcare settings.  Please help us to reduce the risk of infection for our staff and patients by following the guidance.

Phones - 9th June 2021 - 08:03

The phones across East Lancashire Practices are having issues again today.  Patients are being connected to the surgery but unfortunately our reception team are unable to hear them.  The IT Department are now aware of the issue and are looking to resolve it as soon as possible.  We are extremely sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Telephone Issues - Wednesday 17th March, 2021

The telephone system appears to be having issues again.   Although we can hear the phone ring and answer it, we are unable to hear anything from the caller.  This appears to be impacting on most Practices in the 01282 area.  The issue is being investigated by the providers.

If you need to contact us in the meantime we can still access our emails - nelson.medicalpractice@nhs.net.     We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Appointments

circled_dayAppointments can be made in person, on the internet or by telephone.  You can pre-book an appointment up to two weeks in advance, with some urgent appointments being offered the same day.  If you require an urgent appointment please phone as early as possible after 08:30.  The GPs triage all urgent requests for appointments.

You may choose which Doctor to see, but when the surgery is busy it may not be possible to see the Doctor of your choice.

Please note appointments with the Doctors are 10 minutes only.  Please attend promptly as any delay means other people’s appointments are delayed and the GP may not see you.  We offer 15 minute appointments for patients aged 75+.

If you require more than one member of your family to be seen please book a separate appointment.  Asking the Doctor to see or advise others in your appointment slot will not be tolerated.

Clinical Pharmacist, Practice Nurse and HCA

In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with the Clinical Pharmacist rather than a Doctor.  The Clinical Pharmacist is able to see patients for medication reviews along with any query relating to medication.  The Practice Nurse is able to carry out annual reviews.  Please contact reception to book appointments and check who is the best person to deal with your problem.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.  You can cancel your appointment via the internet, by telephone or by replying to your reminder text message and typing CANCEL.
