Missed appointments

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible. There is a high demand of appointments and this would enable us to offer the appointment to someone else, even at short notice.

Missed appointments contribute to the difficulty some people experience in obtaining an appointment with a clinician. We take this matter very seriously as we strive to provide good access for everyone.

Each missed clinical appointment costs the NHS approximately £58 and around 5 and a half hours of clinical time is lost each week as a result of patients who do not attend their appointment (and do not cancel).

Our current Practice policy states if a patient does not attend three appointments within a 12 month period, and does not tell us why they could not attend before these appointments, we will request the patient be removed from our Practice list, as we constitute this as a breakdown in professional relationship.

Patients will be informed in writing of each missed appointment. If you receive one of these letters, and you believe you should not have for any reason, please get in touch.
