**Please see current situation at Ramsey Group Practice**
You will normally see the doctor with whom you are registered, unless the doctor is fully booked or away from the premises, when you may see another partner or a locum. You may be advised by the receptionist that your problem can be dealt with by one of our health care professionals including our extended role colleagues.
Please remember that patients under 14 should be accompanied and that only one patient may be seen per appointment. Whilst we do our best to run on time with appointments if you are kept waiting please be patient, there may be an emergency or a complicated problem to deal with. The receptionists will try to keep you informed of any likely delays.
A surgery is also held each day at the Jurby Health and Community Centre. They are booked as above.
Telephone Calls - Phone: 01624 813881
The phone lines are often busy (the practice has over 14,500 patients) so if possible please avoid phoning on Monday mornings. The receptionist will advise you of the best time to speak with the doctor if he or she is in surgery. Please expect the receptionist to ask some questions and relevant details. Between 6.00pm and 8.00am and at weekends or on public holidays the telephone lines are diverted to the Manx Emergency Doctor Service.
Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Paramedic Practitioner & Physicians Associate
Our extended role colleagues are here to help look after anyone with an acute illness. If you feel you need an urgent appointment for the day, please do accept an appointment with one of these clinicians.
Nurses
Our four nurses are highly qualified and experienced members of the team who hold their own clinics, can advise on a wide variety of health problems and interventions, minor ailments and chronic disease management issues. They can help you with immunisations, cervical smears, blood pressure checks, ear syringing and other referrals which your doctor may arrange. The nurses also work in close co-operation with the doctors in running chronic disease clinics. To see the practice nurse please make an appointment at reception or phone as above.
Health Care Assistants
Our Health Care Assistant holds blood clinics daily between 8.30 and 10.00am by appointment. They also runs the new patient check service, blood pressures checks and administers certain immunisations and injections.
Medical/Nursing Students
On occasion we have students in training sitting in with the nurses or doctors. The receptionist will inform you of this. Please let her know if you wish to see the doctor alone.
Chaperone Policy
A chaperone policy is followed which can be read by clicking this link. This will download the policy.
To Cancel an Appointment
Instead of phoning just email us your cancellation on RGP.General@gov.im or follow the link on the text reminder you receive. This may allow someone else to utilise the slot and save a wasted appointment. Every day many precious appointments are wasted by patients failing to turn up.
