Our front doors are open.

We are operating a same day routine telephone triage.

The doctor will see you in surgery by appointment, if necessary following telephone triage. A telephone consultation can be made either by calling at reception or by telephoning 028 90808200 from 8.30 am.

Please note our main front doors are not opened until 08:30 each morning.   

The practice has a DNA (did not attend) policy, you can find full details of this under the practice policy section. 

It is essential that if you can not attend your appointment that you contact reception to cancel.

Emergencies

For emergency calls during the surgery hours ie. 8.30am - 5.30pm, telephone 028 9080 8200 and select option 1. Requests will be dealt with as quickly as possible and passed to the doctor on call.

Home Visits

If you are too ill to come to the surgery a home visit can be requested by telephoning (028) 9080 8226 before 10.30am.

Please give as much information as possible to enable the doctor to assess the urgency of the call. If you feel the patient is too ill to wait for a call after surgery hours, please explain this when requesting the visit.

Sickness Certificates

You do not require a doctor's sickness certificate for any illness lasting seven days or less. Your employer may however require you to complete a self-certification form (SC2) which is available from your employer or on the HMRC website.

Evidence that you are sick

If you are sick for more than seven days, your employer can ask you to give them some form of medical evidence to support payment of SSP (statutory sick pay).

It is up to your employer to decide whether you are incapable of work. A medical certificate, now called a 'Statement of Fitness for Work’ (see below) from your doctor is strong evidence that you are sick and would normally be accepted, unless there is evidence to prove otherwise.

You could also provide evidence from someone who is not a medical practitioner, e.g. a dentist. Your employer will decide whether or not this evidence is acceptable. If your employer has any doubts, they may still ask for a medical certificate from your GP.

Statement of Fitness for Work - ’Fit Note'

The 'fit note' was introduced on 6 April 2010. With your employer's support, the note will help you return to work sooner by providing more information about the effects of your illness or injury.
