Hay fever season

 

Hay fever is usually worse between late March and September, especially when it’s warm, humid and windy. This is when the pollen count is at its highest.

The majority of high strength treatments for hay fever are now available to purchase at your local pharmacy. You can also utilise the common ailment scheme for If you are your hay fever medication from the pharmacy.  GPs will no longer be able to give routine prescriptions for hay fever treatments. 

Therefore, requests for hay fever medications will be declined by the GP and you will initially be directed to the pharmacy.

Please do not be offended if we refer you to a pharmacy. It is important we do not use appointments for services and medications that are available at your local pharmacy. Where you try pharmacy recommended first line options and these are unsuccessful, then please contact the practice as an appointment may be required with a GP to discuss the medication.  For more information on hay fever, please visit the website below.

Flu Vaccine 

The Flu vaccine reduces the risk of serious illness and we are now offering the Flu vaccine to the following groups,

  • Pregnant women, helps protect both mother and baby
  • Patients aged 65 years and above
  • The Nasal spray vaccine is available for 2 and 3 year olds  

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)

This is a common virus that can affect babies and older adults, we are currently offering this vaccine to the following groups,

  • Patients aged 75 to 79
  • Pregnant women from 28 weeks until delivery

COVID 19 Vaccine

We are currently offering the COVID 19 vaccine to patients aged 80 years and above

Shingles Vaccine

The shingles vaccine is being offered to the following groups,

  • Patients aged 50 and over who are immunocompromised
  • Patients 65 years of age
  • Patients aged 70 to 79 

Pneumonia Vaccine

The pneumonia vaccine is being offered to those aged 65 and above

If you are eligible for any of the above vaccines, please call the surgery to book an appointment

Self Check in for Appointments

We now have a self check in system at the surgery, it is situated on the right hand side just before the reception desk.  Please book in for pre booked appointments at the self check in as this will prevent you from queueing at the reception desk.
