When We Are Closed
The surgery is open from 8:00am until 6:00pm weekdays, but is normally closed at weekends and bank holidays.
We are closed every 3rd Thursday from 12.00pm for Staff Training
All services outside of our normal opening hours are provided by the North Durham Clinical Commissioning Group which has doctors and emergency care nurse practitioners working at the University Hospital of North Durham.
They make home visits, give telephone advice or arrange for consultations at the Out of Hours Centre.
What to do when your GP practice is closed:
- if it's a life-threatening emergency call 999
- if you need medical help but its not an emergency call 111
During normal practice hours, the practice remains your first point of contact for all routine requests.
NHS 111
NHS 111 is the number to call when you need medical help fast but it's not a life-threatening emergency. You should call 111 when:
- you want to see a GP on a weekend between
- you think you need to go to A&E or to another NHS urgent care service
- your GP surgery is closed and you need healthcare advice
- you don't know who to call for medical help.
Calls to NHS 111 are free to landlines and mobiles and NHS 111 is available 24/7, every day of the year.
When you call 999
Call 999 for life threatening emergencies such as:
- major accident or trauma
- severe breathlessness
- severe bleeding
- loss of consciousness
- severe chest pain
