We’re now offering appointments with a podiatrist through our First Contact Practitioner service for a range of foot and ankle issues, including:

Nail & Skin Problems
- Ingrown or painful toenails
- Fungal infections
- Corns, callus, and verrucae
- Foot rashes
- Non-healing wounds or ulcers (including for diabetic patients)
Infections & Circulatory Concerns
- Bacterial or fungal skin infections
- Swelling in foot or ankle
- Changes in foot colour or temperature
- Sudden decline in foot health impacting daily life
Muscular & Mechanical Pain
- Foot and ankle pain
- Mobility issues due to mechanical changes

π« Exclusion Criteria – You cannot be seen under this service if:
- You are acutely or systemically unwell (e.g. sepsis)
- You are under 16 years of age
- Your issue is medication-related (e.g. reviews or queries)
- You are housebound or require a home visit
- You already have active podiatry care with County Durham & Darlington NHS
- You need routine nail care for non-pathological nails
- You prefer not to be seen by a First Contact Practitioner
This service helps you access specialist foot care quickly—no GP referral required if you meet the criteria.
