Training Practice

We are a training practice. As well as the regular doctors, we sometimes have qualified doctors working with us for up to 12 months, who are learning about general practice. Consultations are sometimes videoed and inspection of medical records is undertaken for training purposes only. We also have assistants who work part time for family reasons and sometimes locum doctors who are employed to cover absence.

Nurse

Our practice nurses are available every day Monday-Friday. They syringe ears, dress wounds, give childhood and travel immunisations, take cervical smears, perform ECGs and take blood tests. They have experience in the monitoring of on-going illnesses such as asthma, diabetes and heart disease. 

Paramedic, Dementia Clinical Lead and Dementia Care Co-ordinator. James runs dementia service (Golden Ticket) clinics for patients with dementia, their families and carers.

We have an Urgent Care Team who support our Duty Doctor with those patients who have an urgent on the day clinical need. The paramedics supporting duty doctor are Josh, Reece and Sue. 

Our healthcare assistants and phlebotomist work under the supervision of our nurses.

They take blood tests, perform ECGs and help with new patient checks.

Charlotte joined the surgery as our Practice Director on 10 January 2022. She has a proven track record in General Practice, having recently worked at another local surgery and having been awarded UK Practice Manager of the Year in 2020.

Our reception team are your first point of contact and are on duty during opening hours. They are responsible for all appointment scheduling and will answer all phone calls and receive all patient enquiries. Our reception team is overseen by Annabel Garnham, Reception Manager. 

The community midwife is closely involved in the care of all expectant mothers. She can be seen by appointment. The midwives’ office may be contacted on 01892 654080.

The district nurses provide nursing care at home for patients unable to attend the practice.

Health Visiting and the Early Help Service 0 to 19 can support you and your family from pregnancy until your child is five. The teams are made up of health professionals and offer a range of support, either one-to-one or in groups.

Our dispensers are responsible for ordering medicines and the preparation of the majority of prescriptions. The dispensary is closed between 1pm and 1.30pm at Buxted Monday to Friday, and between 1 and 2pm at East Hoathly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1pm.  Our Manor Oak site does not have a dispensary.
