The Practice nurses are available by appointment to offer advice and information on a variety of problems including minor ailments, family planning advice, repeat pill prescriptions and pill injections, cervical smears tests and advice on sexual health and the menopause, routine immunisations and vaccinations, blood pressure monitoring, weight management and lifestyle advice. We are also available to refer those interested in stopping smoking to an appropriate cessation service. Travel vaccinations are carried out - if you are planning a holiday where you may require vaccinations please contact the surgery at least 8 weeks before departure in order to enable the nurses to undertake a risk assessment and provide you with the appropriate vaccination schedule. There may be charges for some travel vaccines.  The nurse is also available by telephone for queries or concerns.

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as requesting repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

The midwives no longer run a clinic at St. Mary’s Medical Centre but instead see pregnant ladies at various children’s centres around the Oldham area.  Please ask at reception for a list of addresses and telephone numbers. 

The District Nurses no longer run a clinic at St. Mary’s Medical Centre. If you need an appointment for the removal of sutures, ear syringing or a change of dressing please contact the District Nursing Team on 0300 323 0464 to arrange an appointment at a nearby clinic.
