Blood Tests

So that you do not have to visit the hospitals to have routine blood testing, Our healthcare assistants Rukshanda, Meghna, Chan and Manisha will carry out these tests for you at the surgery.

Hilltop Surgery, will carry out these tests each day from 08:15 to 18.30.  

Melbourne Street surgery, will carry out these tests on a  Monday to Wednesday from 8.10am to 3.00pm or as requested by your doctor.  The blood test at this site are only done in the set times.

Please allow at least 7 days to call for your results. If there is a problem which needs to be investigated, the surgery will contact you to come and see the doctor. 

Test Results

When you attend for a test of any kind you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results. Please bear this in mind and only call the surgery after 11:00 once sufficient time has elapsed.

Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results therefore it is your responsibility to check them and make any necessary follow-up appointment with the doctor.

Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that is a child under 16 years of age or that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.

X-Ray 

An X-ray is a widely used diagnostic test to examine the inside of the body. X-rays are a very effective way of detecting problems with bones, such as fractures. They can also often identify problems with soft tissue, such as pneumonia or breast cancer.

If you have a X-ray, you will be asked to lie on a table or stand against a surface so that the part of your body being X-rayed is between the X-ray tube and the photographic plate.

An X-ray is usually carried out by a radiographer, a healthcare professional who specialises in using imaging technology, such as X-rays and ultrasound scanners.

Samples

If the doctor has requested for you to provide us with a sample e.g: a urine or a stool specimen or any other samples, please ensure your full name and date of birth has been clearly written on the bottle. If the writing is illegible the sample will be discarded by the hospital and you will have to provide another sample, furthermore this will cause a delay with your test.

Melbourne street Surgey

Please bring all samples to the Melbourne street surgery before 12:30pm, as the samples are collected by the hospital once a day between 12.30pm - 1.00pm. Samples will not be accepted on Friday afternoons as they cannot be kept over the weekend.

Hilltop Surgery

To improve access for our patients we now provide blood tests both morning and afternoons, at the Hilltop surgery including the extended hours on Mondays until 8.00pm. 

For specimen am collections, please bring all samples before 12.30pm to the surgery and for evening collections before 6.00pm.
