OTHER PRACTICE CLINIC SERVICES:
POST NATAL EXAMINATIONS
- Carried out by appointment at six week post-natal.
CERVICAL SMEAR TEST
Cancer of the cervix can be prevented and all female patients between the ages of 25 and 65 are advised to have regular smear tests. These tests are important because they can detect early signs of the disease, which is easily treated. The cervical screening program operates a ‘call and recall’ system to remind you about the tests which are carried out during normal surgeries by the Practice Nurse or the Doctor.
CONTRACEPTION
We can give a comprehensive service, within normal surgery hours. Some patients receiving contraceptive services are advised to have an annual check-up.
MINOR SURGERY
Certain procedures can be performed within the Practice as a service to cut short patients waiting time for hospital appointments. These will be arranged by the doctor.
INFLUENZA/COVID VACCINATION
Every Autumn, we offer flu/covid vaccination to our eligible patients. It is strongly recommended for high risk patients e.g. those with a heart or chest disease, diabetics or those who live and work in institutions or nursing homes.
TETANUS
Vaccination recommended for everyone especially for farm workers. (Booster recommended every ten years). For those who have had their normal childhood immunisations which includes tetanus, a booster is recommended every ten years.
BREAST EXAMINATION
It is a good idea for all women to examine their breasts regularly for lumps. If you are not sure how to do this, your doctor or Practice Nurse will be happy to show you. If you should notice any lumps in your breasts, please see your doctor. Most lumps are not serious, but it is important to have any possible abnormality checked.
