Information about weight loss injection prescribing
AT PRESENT UNTIL AT LEAST AUGUST 2025 YOUR GP PRACTICE CANNOT PRESCRIBE MOUNJARO (TIRZEPATIDE) FOR WEIGHTLOSS.
Although NICE issued guidence in December 2024 that the NHS should provide Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) to patients for weight loss from June 2025, presently it is unknown whether NHS Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland will be arranging for General Practices, Weight loss services, or another service to provide this. The service will not start until at least August 2025. NHS England has provided for a very limited number of patients to be prescribed this (425 in the whole area per year). Oviva - NHS LLR has also decided that patients cannot be referred for NHS care to Right to Choose providers . The criteria for prescribing mounjaro through the NHS for weightloss are very strict . Patients will have to have a BMI over 40, and at least 4 qualifying medical problems .
Patients with any further questions or concerns can contact NHS LLR at Room G30, Pen Lloyd Building, County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester. LE3 8TB or email llticb-llr.enquiries@nhs.net.

Our Appointment System
Our Surgery has been open and seeing for face-to-face appointments all through the pandemic. As part of managing the number of appointments that were requested and keeping our patients safe, we started a triage first appointment system.
Triage first means you will have a telephone appointment with a doctor first and they will discuss your health issues over the telephone. This allows the doctor to then bring you in to the surgery for a face-to-face appointment later that day, consult with you online, or refer you straight to the service they think best meets your needs.
There are several ways you can contact the surgery to get information or help: -
