Contact with a child with 'Slapped Cheek Syndrome' in Pregnancy
We have been getting a few queries from patients regarding 'Slapped Cheek Syndrome'. The current guidelines from the Department of Health are that:
'Contact is defined as being in the same room (eg house or classroom) for a significant period of time (15 minutes or more) or face-to-face contact with someone with 'slapped cheek syndrome'. If this applies, please ring us to make an appointment for a blood test to check your immunity. However, up to 95% of the population are immune, as you may have become immune in childhood. If in doubt, give us a ring.
