RESPIRATORY SYNCYTIAL VIRUS (RSV)
From 1 September 2024, those who turn 75 and those age 75 to 79 will be eligible for a free vaccine to protect them from respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
RSV is an infectious disease of the airways and lungs. RSV infection often causes symptoms similar to a cold. It can also make you become wheezy or short of breath and lead to pneumonia and other life-threatening conditions. Every year thousands of older adults need hospital care for
RSV, and some of them will die. RSV can be more severe in people with medical conditions such as heart or lung disease or a weakened immune system.
Pregnant Women are also eligible for this vaccine. RSV infection is common in young children but is most serious for small babies.
9 in 10 under 2s catch RSV. It can cause pneumonia and bronchiolitis. Every year thousands of babies need hospital care for RSV.
Vaccination from 28 weeks of pregnancy is the best way to protect your baby.
We will soon be inviting eligible patients to book their RSV vaccine appointment. Invitations will be sent by text message or through a letter in the post. Please keep an eye out for your invitation and book your appointment as soon as possible
Stay safe and protect your health!

Some of the comments made were;
Waiting times for telephone consultation call back
As an example, when booking a telephone consultation you may not be given an exact time but informed 'doctor will call this morning, after 10am'. We appreciate that for some patients such as those in work, this may be an issue if you are unable to use your phone during that time. If this is the case please make reception aware when booking so it can be noted it on the system. Our clinicians always aim to stick to given times where possible.
