When We Are Closed
The Manx Emergency Doctor Service is situated within the Noble's Hospital site. If you need a doctor outside of our opening hours (08:30 – 18:00 Monday to Friday) then you should contact the surgery as normal and you will be given instructions on how to contact the out of hours service.
When you contact the out-of-hours service one or more of the following is likely to be the outcome:-
- given telephone advice by the duty doctor
- invited to attend the Manx Emergency Doctor Service at Noble's Hospital
- visited at home, if considered medically necessary, following assessment by the duty doctor
- admitted to hospital, if considered medically necessary
In the unlikely event of you experiencing any difficulty in getting through, contact Nobles Hospital on 650000 or, in an extreme emergency, ring 999 for an ambulance. Please note that it is unlikely that the doctor you contact at MEDS will be one from this practice, although it will be a GP from the Island.
Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
More information about MEDS can be found on the Isle of Man Government website.
In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and/or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
