Patient safety guidance recommends that it is safer to order prescriptions in writing in order to avoid mistakes being made by either the patient or the person taking the message. For this reason, the practice no longer takes prescription requests over the telephone.
Repeat Prescriptions
Patients on long term medication can order repeat prescriptions in a number of ways.
1. This website has a secure service that allows you to order your medications online. Follow the link at the top of this page and complete a quick and easy registration process. You only need to do this the first time you are placing an order.
Your medication can be delivered from your usual pharmacy if you have correctly selected it from the drop down list in the request form.
2. You may order by post using the tear off slip from your last prescription or by sending in one of the forms available at reception. If you send in a stamped addressed envelope with your request, we will post your prescription out to you when it is ready, or we can arrange for it to be sent to your local pharmacy if you prefer.
3. Most pharmacies will deal with ordering your repeat medication directly from the practice and will even deliver it to you, if that is necessary. Please contact your preferred pharmacy to discuss and organize this service.
Please order your medication when you have a week supply left as this will allow time for both ourselves and the Pharmacy to process your request. When ordering your prescription please allow 48 hours or 2 working days before collection. If you are collecting from a pharmacy please allow extra time for dispensing.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medications will have the practice review these at least once a year. This may be done at your annual check with nursing staff, by a pharmacist or by a doctor. You may be asked to arrange a time to speak to the doctor about your medication. We need to make sure that you are on the best medication for your particular health needs and so it is important to keep your arranged appointments.
