Access to a GP or Healthcare Professional

If you require an urgent appointment, please phone any weekday between 8:30am and 1:00pm to request this.  The receptionists will offer you an appointment, if one is available in the morning or afternoon.  Some appointments will be reserved for emergencies for patients calling after 1:00pm, but these will be strictly limited. 

If you prefer, you can book a routine appointment with any doctor or nurse and we will always do our best to accommodate your requests. 

As a large practice it is not possible for us to guarantee that you can see the doctor of your choice.

If you particulary want telephone advice, please make this clear to reception and they will try to book you a 'telelphone call' appointment slot.

Please do not abuse this system.  For example: 

- an emergency appointment is not to get repeat medication

- an emergency appointment with a doctor is not for a blood pressure check 

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 10:30am if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.
